For skin that will make you positively glow, this avocado face mask is a great way of detoxing your skin after a hard week of weather and stress and any products you may regularly use during the week.
Now I find this mask particularly difficult to make, owing to my overzealous love for avocados, putting half on my face instead of straight into my mouth is a sacrifice I regularly, albeit reluctantly, make.
All you need for this recipe is:
1/2 ripe avocado (preferably organic) (feel free to eat the other half whilst hunting down the other ingredients)
1 tsp apple cider vinegar
1 tsp honey
1 tsp (fresh) lemon
Scooping out the half of avocado, mash it with a fork then add in the honey, the apple cider vinegar and the lemon. Mash the mixture again until it is akin to a smooth paste. You may not achieve the same smoothness that could be achieved via a blender, but you’re saving on electricity and building up your biceps instead!
Now, making sure to pull back or cover your hair, apply the mixture all over your beautiful face. If you aren’t quite sleight of hand then I suggest wearing an old t-shirt/an apron/ anything you don’t plan on wearing for the rest of the day.
When you have finally achieved a look akin to Hulk/ a victim of the Gunk Dunk (Get Your Own Back) sit back and allow to sit for 15 minutes. Finally, rinse off with cool water and watch your face glow!
I recommend that you use this face mask once a week and follow it with a light application of coconut moisturiser of which the recipe can be found here. Now, I’m more the type of person that likes to spend as little time as possible on so-called beauty maintenance, so i’m more inclined to use this mask every once in a while rather than by a strict regime. However, if you live somewhere where there is a lot of air pollution i.e. London it’s a really great idea to do this and save your skin from all those toxins and chemicals condensed in our cities.
N.B. If you want to get the most out of your avocado, why not use the avocado skin as a scrub? Simply turn the skin inside out and rub it against your skin for 3-5 minutes before applying the mask.
